Looking back to March 2020, it's as if we all temporarily lost all sense of reason.
When the lockdown was announced, I thought, " Well, that seems like a bit of overkill." But I followed orders like everyone else and didn't think too much about it.
As a new Yoga teacher who had spent 18 months building up my business, with no furlough or help from the government, my business was trashed overnight. I was busy eeking out my savings and trying to stay as sane as possible.
All that aside, it didn't seem long before the "miracle" vaccine appeared, and we were all allegedly saved from imminent doom.
People were falling out and getting stressed over who was entitled to it and when we could all go on holiday.
I stepped back and let everyone get their shots. I initially felt really rushed and needed time to contemplate the situation.
Maybe I might get in the queue once we are entitled to free or discounted burgers as an incentive.
The incredible irony of offering free junk food in exchange for a vaccine for a virus that ravages the obese should not be lost on anyone.
My family were vocal in their disgust of me, putting others at risk blah..blah.. At times, I felt slightly bullied, especially when I went back to teaching and kept it to myself.
But you know what? It turned out that getting the vaccine didn't stop you from catching the virus or passing it on.
But yes, you would be so much worse off without the vaccine, really? Well, conveniently, we will never know.
The fact we were all isolated and housebound whilst people in the know were partying and getting together (in more ways than one Matt Hancock), and what about those awful funerals and grieving families?
I did eventually catch Covid, and no, it wasn't pleasant, but to be honest, I've had worse things.
The long-term effects of the lockdown will reverberate for decades, and we have left a horrendous financial responsibility for our young.
I was never an anti-vaxxer, but nowadays, I am more sceptical. It seems most of the original vaccines have been discontinued due to safety reasons. Most of the people who lost their lives had an average age of 82 and at least five underlying health issues. This is because your immune system has limited capacity and can't fight numerous infections.
I'm not telling you whether to get jabbed- as usual, I'm suggesting that you take stock, do your due diligence, and make the right decision for you.
